Hi All,

Brisbane/Queensland has a big shortage of Fabricators/Welders/Platers/Boilermakers. Any Pomgolians that are migrating and are of the above trades please feel free to contact me via Poms in Brisbane or the BBC(Brisbane British Club) http://brit.meetup.com/246 if you need any help or advice.

Regards,

GeeGee

Decent Areas

I'm new to this forum but have just replied to another thread about the area I live in if you look through this site.

I'm a mechanical engineer and can confirm that for all fitters, welders, draughties etc there is planty of work.

You will be site based in your profession and as there is plenty of work at the refineries, chem plants etc along the mouth of the brisbane river cannot recommend Manly, Lota, Wellington point highly enough. If like me you are lucky enough to live here and work at one of those places you will be approx. 10-15mins from door to door.

Enjoy your planning, I know I did.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Your best bet would be to look on http://www.careeone.com.au or http://www.mycareer.com.au and follow the instructions i.e. brisbane and welding.....

You will probably find that most of the posts will be by agencies, in my opinion they are not very good and I wouldn't normally waste my time with them, However they may be a good first step for you.

http://www.bp.com.au and http://www.caltex.com.au are two of the large refineries along the river and both have career sections in their websites. Incitec Pivot Ltd and coogee chemicals are two large chem plants also along the river.

As for services companies, you could try Transfield services or Monadelphous, both should have websites.

Good luck Job Hunting
