Guest wannaBthere
Dear all, Just wondering if anyone understands the 176 visa :err:(we are still trying to sell our house so therefore have not applied yet, but curious all the same). I have tried looking but can't find any answers - 1) what funds do you have to have for a 176 visa for Queensland sponsorship (family of five)? 2) are you entitled to family assistance etc? 3) Cal, I know I have asked this question before but - do you need to show evidence of research and if so how much? Many thanks all
Guest cal
It would help if they didnt change the rules so much! lol. I will admit all these different visa categorys and restrictions completely blow my mind,I was reading a post on our other site about someone who has to complete an evidence of research report and its the first time i have ever heard of it, the person i would reccommend you ask is Gollywobbler (Gill), she can be found on www.pomsinoz.com this is who i always approach with my queries. Have a read through the migration section on there as there are lots of posts from Gill and Visa Agents trying to help us understand the new changes. Sorry i can't be of more help, if you have any problems joing/signing into the other site ,let me know and i will get it sorted. Guest wannaBthere
Hi Cal, thanks for replying again. Okay, so I have managed to find out that you are entitled to family assistance etc. on a 176 just as you are with a 175. If you are State sponsored 176 you are obliged to stay there for two years and then you may roam freely for the rest of your life (as if life lets us do that!). Also, I have come across a couple of threads stating that previous applicants for the State sponsored 176 were asked to submit a covering letter saying why they wanted to move to a particular state, what funds they had (along with Stat Dec stating what funds in bank) and show evidence of research (in other words, show they have done their homework). The funds thing can't seem to find what QLD requires you to have but you do have to have funds for the 176. I do not know any of the above for fact as I am only going off other threads (from threads of families in the process of getting visas and processed visas). Hope this helps all, as it has helped me know what I need to do, if it changes or I am incorrect please let me know. Night Night all, bed bos time for me xxx
Guest cal
Yes i too was lead to believe you can recieve family assistance, rent assistance ,child care help etc on a 176, so i think your right there. Regarding Queensland rules you could always drop an e-mail to info@ozmigrationagency.com.au this lady is based in Brisbane and will know exactly what is required by QLD for state sponsership, feel free to tell her i passed you her details. Guest tracyjane
hi just thought this might help we gain state sponsorship in sept 08 the forms were so easy to fill in. we had never been asked to prove the funds we stated as having available and we are not planning to sell our house so just from memory only stated our funds were approx 15,ooo pound. we havent been asked to now prove this. as to researching the area well weve been to the gold coast 5 years ago. stated we wanted better lifestyle and said i had a cousin in the gold coast. to be honest like us we thought we needed to study lots of books about brisbane but we didnt. i told them i had a job offer dont know if this worked in our favour but even then i didnt have to prove it. im a midwife so not sure if thats why we had no problems as on the short of skills list. we l;odged our 176 visa 14 nov 08 and was so shocked to have a case officer in Jan who was asking for our meds immediately so for us the process has been done very quickly. any questions then feel free to ask tracy
Guest wannaBthere
Thank you Thank you for your reply. We can only research at the mo, house needs to sell before we want to proceed. Any info on where you live would be great thanks (cost of house, amenities, schools, leisure time), so to ask so much of you as I am sure you will be on shift work. Once more, many thanks x p.s. The weather in England (Manchester) at the mo is cold wet and windy, even had hail this morning... Meanwhile Brisbane is having approx 28 degrees and a possible thunder storm brewing. Mmmmm I know where I want to be! Enjoy your weekend.
