Goldsborough

Hi, my husband and i would like to move to fnq, buy some cheap land and build. We have a newborn n a one yearold.

We found some land in goldsborough. What is this suburb like? Crime? Demographic, outlook.

We have been to cairns several time but stayed in trinity beach area. Which i would imagine be different.

What is the south generally like? How far is it from cbd.

Sad to say, but some areas we went through had aboriginal areas which were very run down. Which areas were these? Is this near there?

Would like to stay clear of aussie bogan areas too.

If u cld name some good areas and the definately no areas, that be great!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bel, sorry just seen your post.

Goldsborough is lovely however watch for flood areas. http://www.cairns.qld.gov.au/building-planning-and-infrastructure/planning-schemes/current/cairnsplan/districts/gordonvale Only last year the river came over the road and ended up trapping cars at Little Mulgrave. Although your home itself may be ok you may have problems getting out come wet season, but remember that is a huge MAY as the weather changes all the time. We may not see flooding there again for another 100 years it may happen tomorrow.

You are a fair way out of Cairns as well.

South of Cairns can be dodgy but there are also some lovely areas, it is a mixed bag. Nothing as bad as some of the UK towns though.

I would recommend Kuranda if you like the rural feel, however, again, when the wet season comes the road down the range often gets blocked as without fail there is a car accident, so it would depend how often you need to get in to Cairns. If it's rural you want without floods and easy access to the City look at Crystal Cascades, Redlynch especially the Valley.

Areas to avoid would be those beginning with M and anything close to the city.
