I have started this thread so we can post about activities in and around Brisbane that are free or have very little cost...

This weekend is the Mt Coot-tha Childrens Festival.. Starting at 10am and running until 2pm, and best of all it is free !!!

Enjoy 4 hours of free activities and entertainment including riding ponies, cuddling baby animals, making puppets, hearing stories, meeting “Bubbles” the fairy and the wearable art tree that is home to Kwa-Kwa the Koala puppet, and watching balloon sculpture being made into exotic flowers and pirate swords. Also, stage entertainment includes “Animal Tails” children’s theatre (10.15am), guest appearance by Bruce and Denis Morcombe (11am), “Masala Dance” Bollywood dancing (11.30am), Smartie Pants the Clown and the Brisbane Municipal Concert Band conducted by David Jones (12.15pm) and African Drumming with Joseph Matovu (1.15pm). BYO picnic blanket, hat, fancy dress and dancing shoes. Sausage sizzle, light refreshments and plant sale also available at the Bandstand.

We also have the Great Brisbane Duck Race this weekend from 10am until 3pm. It is held in Riverside Drive West End and is a great day out for all ages, whilst supporting a very good cause. There are some great prizes on offer and lots of stalls and entertainment to keep your and your little ones busy.

Celebrate cancer research at the Great Brisbane Duck Race Festival Sunday 20th October! For loads of family fun, live entertainment, licenced area, rides and more food stalls than even before. Riverside Drive, West End..

The Great Brisbane Duck Race is the PA Research Foundation's signature FUNdraising event for Cancer Research.
