My boyfriend and I are relocating to Brisbane at the beginning of the new year. We are young professionals in our mid-twenties. Where would be the best place to live that is near the social scene, and also near CBD since that is where we will be working? We were looking at the South Bank area...what are people's thoughts on this area?

Also, are furnished apartments easy to find, or should we plan on bringing our furniture from the USA? Is it possible to purchase affordable furniture in Brisbane? Any advice would be much appreciated!

G'day,

The South Bank is just great! As are the areas around there such as Woolloongabba, West End, Annerley, Kangaroo Point. So close to the CBD but apart from it. When we moved here we had 6 months in a furnished newly purpose built apartment block in Woolloongabba (Gabba Central). Easy bus system and there are the City Cats as well. On the other side of the river you might consider Paddington and New Farm. The vast majority of apartments are furnished and will cost around $500-550pw. The rates are included in the price and there will be an agreed amount of water usage included.

Hope this helps

Hi Southbank is a lovely area but as anywhere near the CBD you will pay high prices for rental. Take a look at areas like Carina, Coorparoo, Morningside, Balmoral these areas may be a little cheaper and still relatively close to the city. Take a look at maps.inbox.com.au this gives you the distance and location areas close to the city, Hope this helps
